Susan Prillaman is a Family & Consumer Sciences Extension Agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension in Bedford County and also serves the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell, and Lynchburg City. Raised in Appomattox County VA, and currently lives in Bedford County; She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in Boone N.C., and received a Master’s degree from Virginia Tech in Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Susan has been with Virginia Cooperative Extension for 34 years.
Susan loves chocolate and travel! She enjoys working with all ages especially youth in hands-on cooking techniques and food preparation skills. She encourages youth and adults to know where their food comes from as she increases their knowledge of how to choose smart snacks, support local growers, and eat balanced meals.
Susan embraces challenges to go beyond the average teaching methods, as she works to offer fun, innovative, hands-on, Chronic disease prevention, Food Preservation, Food Safety and Nutrition/health VCE programs in the communities she serves.
Susan has a rare knack, to plan, effective, “pack-the-kitchen-sink”, portable classroom environments, wherever she goes, to connect to her audience!
