AQUACULTURE FIELD DAY

Beginning at 8:30 am

VSU Randolph Farm

4415 River Road • Petersburg, VA

$25 per person, includes lunch featuring farm-raised catfish*

Aquaculture is one of the most rapidly expanding forms of agriculture nationwide, and one that is projected to grow due to increasing market demand for healthy, locally produced foods. The Aquaculture Field Day offers participants the opportunity to learn about pond aquaculture and aquaponic production in Virginia from the VSU College of Agriculture. Please join us to discuss current best practices and other innovative programs in these areas, and network with new and experienced growers.

Visit multiple stations during the day that feature pond production of catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill and freshwater shrimp. In addition, pond cage culture and aeration systems will be presented. Indoor stations will include aquaponics, tilapia production, tilapia hatchery and a small aquaculture product taste testing.

The event will be held rain or shine. Many portions of the program will be held indoors. In the case of inclement weather, additional accommodations will be made to ensure the comfort and safety of our guests.

Registration is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis, based on registration payment. New online payment options are now available. Walk-in registration is still available at this time, but once paid registrations reach capacity, we regret that walk-ins will not be permitted into the event.
