Silvopasture combines trees, forage plants and livestock together as an integrated, intensively-managed system. Forest landowners and livestock producers can benefit from introducing silvopasture production on their land.

Silvopasture has several advantages over timber and pasture alone, including production for both trees and livestock, improvements in soil, underbrush control, and creation of wildlife habitat.

Join VSU Extension Specialists Dr. Jerry Bettis (Forestry) and Dr. Dahlia O’Brien (Small Ruminants) to learn more about silvopasture and the opportunities that are available to help you get started.

For more information, contact VSU Small Farm Outreach Agent Vernon Heath ( vheath@vsu.edu / (804) 892-4518) or call the Small Farm Outreach Program office at 804-524-3292.
