This educational workshop is free and open to the public.
VDACS State Aparist Keith Tignor will provide classroom instruction on the following topics:
Colony Collapse Disorder
VDACS Pollinator Protection Plan
Grants available for Beekeepers
Beekeeper Equipment
Beehive Components, Construction and Maintenance
The classroom instruction will be followed by a demonstration of how to open, inspect and maintain a beehive.
Attendees must bring their own bee suit and wear long sleeves, pants and closed-toe shoes in order to participate in the hands-on demonstration with live hives.
