This educational workshop is free and open to the public. Space is limited.

VSU Small Farm Outreach Program is pleased to host this introductory course from the New, Beginning & U.S. Military Veteran Farmer and Rancher Program for those interested in starting a farm operation or who have been farming for less than 10 years and want to find resources to grow and strengthen their operation.

Whole Farm Planning puts beginning farmers in a good position to maintain or improve profitability while enhancing their sustainability. Whole Farm Planning helps beginning farmers define long- and short-term goals to help you achieve a better quality of life at home and in your community.


LEARN FROM

  • VSU Small Farm Outreach Agents Susan Cheek, Derrick Cladd and Michael Carter Sr. as they review the Whole Farm Planning manual

  • Cooperative Extension Agent Katy Overby, who can connect you with local resources

  • Farm Credit representatives with instruction on how you can develop a simple, one-page business plan

  • USDA agency representatives who will share information about available services and resources for farmers

  • Mark Chandler, owner of Chandler Farms and one of our Beginning Farmer Mentors, as he shares his own farm experience and insights
