This workshop is free and open to the public. Space is limited.
Brent Wills, President of Virginia Association for Biological Farming, will present this workshop hosted by VSU Small Farm Outreach Program. The workshop will provide comprehensive information for farmers who are currently raising poultry or considering starting a heritage breed poultry enterprise.
Learn the definition and types of heritage breeds and more about the advantages and disadvantages of raising heritage breeds. Wills will also provide a comparison of commercial, heritage breed and hybrid poultry for meat production and discuss poultry profits to explore the potential financial advantages of raising heritage breeds for meat or eggs. Niche marketing strategies for heritage breed poultry will be discussed as well as how you can improve soil with a poultry operation.
