SNAP Program Sign-up Event
Monday, September 11, 2023 · 9 am–noon
VSU Randolph Farm Pavilion, 4415 River Rd, Petersburg, VA 23803
Urban farmers—come out and sign up for SNAP Certification! USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) will be on site to accept applications to accept SNAP (food stamp) benefits. This is a tremendous opportunity as applications will be processed immediately, instead of the usual authorization process, which can be up to 45 days. Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) will also be there with applications to determine if you qualify for FREE wireless point of sale EBT/SNAP equipment. Be sure to bring a picture ID (driver’s license or passport), and social security card (or other official document with your name and SSN).
This is a win/win for farmer’s markets and direct marketing farmers. Virginia issues over 223 million dollars in SNAP benefits monthly, resulting in increased customer base, increased economic benefits for you and your communities, and healthy and nutritious options for SNAP recipients.
