Preparing A Small Farm for Winter
Wednesday, October 25, 2023 · 1–4 pm
Foster, Virginia
Every year around late October, CA & J Farm tackles chores around their 5-acre off-grid-capable herb, egg and cut-flower operation to prepare for fall and winter. This workshop will give you lots of info for finishing off the year and getting a good start on next year. We will focus on final summer harvesting, seed saving, prepping beds, animal needs, planting herbs, cool flowers and perennials that thrive when they are planted in the fall season. We will assess this year’s calendar, build next year’s, and talk about the changing weather. The tour will end with an informative herb talk about building your immune system and energy levels to face challenges during the winter season ahead.
