How to Take and Submit a Soil Sample

Participants will learn best practices for taking a soil sample; the equipment and supplies needed; how to submit a soil sample to the Virginia Tech Soil Lab, and how to fill out the necessary paperwork. The workshop will be a live feed where we will demonstrate each step with time for individual questions and answers. Attendees will also learn how to read a soil test report and what procedures to follow: how to calculate the amounts of lime, macro, and micronutrients to put down to amend your soil, and when is the best time to apply soil amendments.
