Join us at Big Jake’s Garden and get a springing head-start on planting your crops! Jake Caldwell, Owner and Operator of Big Jake’s Garden, will discuss how to successfully grow garden greens early, while avoiding frost. VSU Small Farm Outreach Program Beginning Farmer Mentor, Emily Robinson will present gardening tips for first-time growers along with no-till growing methods for small farms. NRCS staff will discuss the importance of taking a soil sample of your garden plot, as well as showing you how to do it. As a gift from Jake, all participants will be able to take a plant home!
