Increasing Yields by Improving Soil Health

Tammy Holler, Nutrient Management Specialist, will explain why nutrient management is important, and provide information on techniques farmers can use to improve soil health and increase crop productivity.

Topics include:

  • Using cover crops, compost, and manure as alternative ways to improve soil health.

  • Selecting the best cover crop.

  • Timing for cover crop planting.

  • New management practices for a synergistic approach to planting that will improve crop production and soil health.

  • Understanding nutrient management and proper timing of nutrient applications.

  • How to read a soil test result.
