THIS WORKSHOP IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. 

Representatives from the Virginia Employment Commission will provide information on pertinent labor laws, migrant housing regulations and answer your questions about the services that are available from Virginia Employment Commission and how to use their Farm Labor Placement Program. Learn more about VEC’s major services that are available to farmer owners who need to recruit and hire workers, including.

  • Virginia Workforce Connection, a self-service recruitment tool for applicants in your surrounding area.

  • Department of Agriculture and Labor’s Agricultural Recruitment Systems, for applicants from Virginia and other states.

  • H-2A temporary agricultural program for nonimmigrant foreign workers to perform agricultural labor on a seasonal basis

USDA Agency Resources:

  • Anthony Howell with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will provide information about technical and financial assistance available from NRCS to help farmers, ranchers and forest managers. Common technical assistance includes: resource assessment, practice design and resource monitoring. 

  • David Holloway with Farm Service Agency (FSA) will provide information and answer questions about the variety of programs and resources that are available to support Virginia farmers.
